Fans Grieve, Friends Cry, and Everyone Wonders ... What Went Wrong?

Did you guys hear the sad sad news that Brittany Murphy died over the weekend? The actress and former flame of Ashton Kutcher was reportedly found dead in the shower on Sunday morning in full cardiac arrests. We're mourning her loss and wondering ... why.

Hollywood, and the rest of the world, is grieving about the loss of another star. Brittany Murphy (who most of us came to know on the big screen after her role in "Clueless") was reportedly pronounced dead on Sunday morning after suffering cardiac arrest. She was 32 years old.
It's unclear at this time what happened, and rumors are swirling: Did she fall and hurt herself (as noted above, she was allegedly found in the shower)? Were there drugs involved (even though she vehemently denied allegations of drug use in the past)?
In her own words in 2005 (which now seem very sad to read back): "I have never tried [cocaine] in my entire life. I've never even seen it. ... I am also way too high-strung. I can't even take a Sudafed. Can you imagine? My God. I think my heart would explode."
But I think top of mind for most people is this question: Could her weight and alleged eating disorder issues have played a role in her death? (Here's the last known photo of Brittany, taken on December 3.)
None of the answers to these questions will bring her back, but it's hard to let someone go without knowing and understanding what happened. An autopsy is scheduled for this week (even though, according to some sources, her husband, Simon Monjack, reportedly doesn't want one performed).
I teared up a little when I read what Ashton Kutcher (her former fiance) tweeted about Brittany yesterday: "2day the world lost a little piece of sunshine. My deepest condolences go out 2 Brittany’s family, her husband, & her amazing mother Sharon ... see you on the other side kid."
Alicia Silverstone said she hoped the actress and pal was "at peace." And Jessica Simpson called her a "ray of light."
Rest in peace, Brittany.
